The Morgans of Nebraska have been raising cattle for more than 80 years. The cattle are allowed to roam completely free for twelve months on the 50 square miles of pasture surrounding the ranch in the Nebraska Sandhills. Although this natural region consists almost entirely of dunes rather than lush pastures, it is stabilized by low vegetation. Here's how the Morgans' cattle find: pasture grass, prairie herbs and valuable minerals. Drinking water comes from small lakes and marshes. However, since rainfall in this region is limited, the water also comes from the natural reservoirs of the Ogallala aquifer, a gigantic aquifer that stores the largest underground water resources in the world. During fattening, cattle are fed supplemental feed in the form of corn, grain, hay, mash, and alfalfa for at least 120 days.

The Morgans control all stages of production themselves: breeding, calving, selection and grading, fattening, transport, supervision of slaughter and meat production, packing and shipping. This is how Dan Morgan ensures that their meat is always of the highest quality. Before export, the beef is aged for 30 days and only then is flash frozen to protect the flavor.
